Hyperion Tree: A Scaled Replica Of The Tallest Living Tree In The World

There's something pretty great about scaled replicas. They allow you to take something so enormous that you can't even imagine the size of it, and put it right in the palm of your hand, along with a frame of reference so you can see with your own two eyes, just how big it is. Much like the scaled planet replicas we featured a few days ago, this one is a replica of the tallest living tree in the world, and it even lets you see how big it is next to the size of a human.
A perfect gift idea for any outdoors enthusiast, the tree replica is made after the Hyperion Tree, which was the name given to a coast Redwood tree in Northern California which was measured at 379.3 feet tall. It was declared the tallest living tree in the world when it was measured back in 2006. Although within the past couple years, a new unnamed tree has been measured at just a bit taller than the Hyperion tree somewhere between 379.6 ft - 390.0 ft tall.
Designed and created by Clive Roddy, a product designer based out of the UK, the Hyperion Tree scaled replica is just one of his many products that we've featured on Odditymall, with other featured products including the cactus coasters, the UP balloon house pin cushion, and these stackable rings that create different landscapes on your finger.
The Hyperion Tree piece is a 1:826 scaled replica of the tallest living tree in the world (in 2006), comes enclosed in a protective glass tube, is made from balsa wood, birch plywood, foam, steel, card, and glass, features a tiny scaled average height human next to the tree, and measures 6.3 inches tall x 1.8 inches in diameter.
