Most campers arrive at a scenic overlook and unfold a chair. The ATventure 1070 arrives and unfolds another floor. Somewhere nearby, a person wrestling a tent pole has just decided to stop making eye contact.

ATventure 1070 with optional roof terrace deployed

This luxury motorhome with a rooftop terrace takes the idea of bringing the comforts of home on vacation rather literally. Built on a Mercedes-Benz Actros truck, the German-made 1070 combines a substantial living area with an optional elevated outdoor space. Your upstairs neighbors can finally be you.

The terrace is the headline attraction, but the whole vehicle is an exercise in refusing to pack lightly. It has the stance of a truck, the domestic ambitions of a holiday apartment, and considerably more presence than the camper van you can reverse into a normal parking space without a family meeting.

A rooftop terrace that travels with the house

ATventure lists the optional terrace at 8 by 2.4 meters. That works out to 19.2 square meters, or roughly 207 square feet. This is enough area to make the phrase “let’s go upstairs” sound perfectly reasonable while standing beside a vehicle.

In the manufacturer’s exterior photograph, the deployed structure has a raised canopy, slim supports, and dark side panels. It looks more like an upper lounge than a little platform for two folding stools. The visual punch comes from seeing that entire extra level above an already imposing motorhome.

The terrace is optional, so it belongs on the equipment conversation when ordering. A photograph of a fully dressed vehicle is not a promise that every build includes every extra. Think of it as choosing the upstairs chapter of your traveling-house story.

Of course, the attraction is easy to understand. A good view is even better when you can enjoy it from your own outdoor room. The awkward part will be explaining to friends that the dinner invitation includes stairs, despite the address being a campsite.

The living room also gets a little ambitious

A standard slide-out expands the interior living space. That is a useful distinction: the main room can grow sideways, while the optional terrace adds the upstairs experience. The 1070 is essentially answering the question, “What if packing the house meant actually packing the house?”

There is a large seating area with a recliner, plus a kitchen equipped for considerably more than opening a packet of noodles. The specification includes induction cooking, an oven with microwave functionality, a refrigerator with freezer, and a dishwasher. Whoever usually gets assigned campsite washing-up duties may experience an immediate personality improvement.

The interior photographs show warm wood tones and upholstered seating, rather than a folding furniture emergency. There is something wonderfully excessive about a vehicle whose room arrangement encourages you to discuss where you would like to sit this evening.

Some of the most useful things to discuss when planning a build are:

  • Whether the optional rooftop terrace is part of the chosen configuration.
  • Which layout best suits the way you cook, relax, and move through the cabin.
  • Whether the available optional sleeping arrangements are needed.
  • What you actually intend to carry in the rear garage.
  • How the finished vehicle will fit the places you want to visit.

Those questions are less glamorous than the terrace, but they decide whether a touring vehicle feels like a wonderful personal retreat or an elaborate way to carry furniture you do not use. Even a rolling penthouse deserves a sensible floor plan.

The dimensions deserve their own conversation

The model name hints at the scale. At 10.7 meters long, this is about 35 feet of motorhome before anyone gets distracted by the upstairs room. It is a vehicle for deliberate travel planning, not spontaneous experiments with tiny village shortcuts.

These are the manufacturer’s listed figures for the 1070. Equipment choices and the final build still need to be discussed with ATventure.

DetailListed specification
Length, width, height10.70 x 2.50 x 3.98 meters
Base vehicleMercedes-Benz Actros
Permitted total mass18,000 kilograms
Optional terrace8.0 x 2.4 meters
Freshwater capacity750 liters
Listed battery storage20.48 kWh

The size is part of the appeal and part of the commitment. A generous living space still has to get through entrances and around corners. Before falling in love with a particular campsite photograph, it would be wise to picture the actual motorhome making the journey into it.

That is hardly unique to this model, but the 1070 makes the point with unusual enthusiasm. You are taking a substantial home on the road. The road does not automatically become wider out of respect.

Bedrooms, bathrooms, and the end of roughing it

The main bed is listed at 210 by 180 centimeters. The shower measures 140 by 90 centimeters. Those numbers help explain the concept better than another promise of luxury: the domestic spaces are being given real room.

After a long day outside, the appeal is straightforward. You can wash, eat, and settle down without transforming the same tiny corner through four different identities. Camping minimalists may find this suspicious. People who have brushed their teeth while standing over a toilet will probably understand.

ATventure offers configurable layouts, and its published plans illustrate different ways of arranging the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and seating. The plans shown here are manufacturer illustrations, so the final layout and equipment should be confirmed for an individual order.

The rear garage adds another very practical layer to the extravagance. ATventure describes space for a small car or two motorcycles. The useful question is which actual vehicle or bikes will fit your chosen build; “small” is not a measuring tape.

Having separate transport at a destination could make everyday errands easier. It also creates the delightful possibility of driving your vehicle out of your vehicle, which sounds like a child’s drawing until a very serious adult starts explaining the garage.

Who is this rolling upstairs lounge for?

The 1070 makes the most sense for someone who wants a substantial touring base and enjoys the home side of motorhome life. It is about spending comfortable time somewhere, with enough room to settle in, rather than winning an argument about how little luggage a person technically needs.

It will be a poor match for anyone whose favorite travel plan involves squeezing into the smallest possible space. The best thing about the terrace is that it adds a whole new place to spend time. The obvious trade-off is that everything underneath it remains a very large motorhome.

The main details worth remembering are:

  • ATventure 1070 luxury motorhome built on a Mercedes-Benz Actros.
  • Standard slide-out for additional interior space.
  • Optional 19.2-square-meter rooftop terrace.
  • Full kitchen equipment including a dishwasher.
  • Rear garage intended for a small car or two motorcycles.
  • Configurable layouts and optional additional sleeping arrangements.

Promobil’s September 2026 report puts the price at approximately €840,000. Treat that as a reported guide rather than a current quotation; the final configuration, options, delivery, and price need to be confirmed directly with ATventure Reisemobile. This is an inquiry-led purchase, not something to casually add beside the marshmallows.

Product photographs and layout illustrations: ATventure. If your idea of getting away from it all includes taking an upstairs sitting area with you, the 1070 has understood the assignment with alarming thoroughness.
