As someone who doesn't actually use knives or blades all-too-often, I gotta say, I still love playing around with a good-old butterfly knife, even if it puts my life into immediate danger by doing so. Well, Gerber Gear has unveiled a new 15 inch butterfly-knife-style machete, that'll put your regular butterfly knife to shame. It'll have you saying "That's not a knife", "This is a knife", in an Australian accent to your friends anytime you whip it out.
The unique folding machete will perfectly fit into your bag by halving the size that a machete of that size would normally be. Since the handle of the machete folds right into the blade of the knife, you'll save a ton of room when packing up your gear for hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, etc... It'll even fit right onto a MOLLE!

The new design of the butterfly-style machete allows the user to use the machete as 3 distinct functions, including chopping, cutting, and using it has a baton when folded down. It also uses a 4-lock system which engages in 3 positions to ensure safe operations under "varying levels of stress".
In total the folding butterfly machete measures 15.1 inches long when fully extended (including the handle), while the 420HC stainless steel blade measures 6.75 inches long. The unique blade weighs 18 oz, comes with a MOLLE compatible sheath, and it comes in three different versions, including black, green, as well as black on black which will run you a bit extra for being extra-awesome looking.
