Microsoft Surface Duo Folding Smart Phone Can Be Turned Into a Mini Laptop

As you may know, Microsoft got out of the smart phone business as it really couldn't compete with the market share that Android and Apple had on them. Though, they don't really consider it a phone, they're essentially back at it again with the incredible new Microsoft Surface Duo. It's like a tiny folding dual-screen smart phone that you can use as a mini laptop, gaming device, and yes it even works as a phone to make and receive calls.
The Microsoft Duo consists of two connected 5.4 inch screens that connect to open up like a book using a hinge in the middle to create one giant 8.3 inch screen. Since it has a hinge, you can't really expect a seamless screen like you'd see in other dual-screen smart phones, but we'd imagine it'll last a lot longer than a screen edge that bends and folds.
What operating system will the Surface Duo run on?
Since Microsoft kind of got out of the smart phone game, the Duo will not be running their Windows Phone operating system like their previous phone's, rather they'll be using a modified version of Google's Android OS. This means that the entire array Google Play store apps will be available on the Surface Duo. Though, don't be surprised if the Edge browser is installed by default.
What features will the Surface Duo have?
Perfect for multitasking, the Surface Duo can run separate apps on each glass panel, giving the ability to work on two things at once. You can also spread one app across both screens for more work area when needed. You can fold it halfway to work on it like a laptop or a gaming device while using an on-screen keyboard or game controller on the other screen, or even fold it all the way around when talking on the phone.
Other features of the Surface Duo include the use of a Surface pen for note taking, drawing, etc, reading e-books, messaging, folding it out 3/4 of the way around to use it as a stand while playing movies, video calling, it measures just 4.8mm thick and easily fits right into a pocket when folded.
The Surface Duo is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, with other specs still a mystery until the device is actually released closer to the holidays of 2020.
How much will the Surface Duo Cost?
The price has not yet been released yet, though some have tried to estimate it using prices of existing folding phones at anywhere between $750-$2000. That's a huge gap of price, but in reality no one really knows besides Microsoft.
When will the Surface Duo be released?
Microsoft has said that the Surface Duo release date won't be until the holidays of 2020. They're probably banking on the shopping season and making the Surface Duo a great gift idea, so chances are around November of 2020 would a be a good guess as to the release date of the Surface Duo.
