Birch Bark Coffee Mug Looks Like a Birch Tree

These birch bark coffee mugs are designed to look just like a chunk of birch tree, and is the perfect gift idea for an outdoorsy coffee drinker. Designed by Maria Holmberg, a Swedish pottery designer, the birch tree coffee mugs were made using a unique pottery printing technique that allowed her to replicate the pattern of birch bark onto the mugs.
The Birch tree is a highly significant tree especially in the northern parts of Europe. In Scandinavia, the birch tree was a symbol of the Goddess Nerthus, and has no doubt found it's way into the culture and design aspects of the country. The unique and light colored bark is always welcome in a Swedish home.
The birch bark coffee mugs come in two different versions, a regular coffee mug style, and a motif pottery piece that you can use to hold plants, use as a container or decor piece, or you could probably even use it drink coffee out of (just without the handle). Unfortunately, the coffee mug doesn't appear to be for sale anywhere, but the motif piece is.
Each motif pottery piece is handmade by Maria in Sweden, and measures 4 inches tall x 4 1/8 inches in diameter. The inside of the coffee mug and vase are filled with a dark brown color, whereas the outside of the pieces are filled with the pattern of a birch tree.
